Spring in View

There’s been some changes going on down by the boardwalk that I could see slightly from my window, but I finally had a chance to see it close-up recently:

The beach had receded so much over the winter that some parts of the boardwalk had reached under the boardwalk, so the city quickly began work to extend the land away from the boardwalk, adding dirt, rocks and boulders… from what I can see, this week they’re started to add some dirt as well, on top of which I’m assuming will be grass? I guess we’ll wait and see! I’m also not sure how far the addition will extend down the boardwalk, but it’s a relief to know that our beloved boardwalk will not be washed away.

Downtown is also still empty and quiet. Doud’s has opened back up to indoor shoppers, and they’ve added many additions to keep their customers safe. They also are continuing to deliver to residents twice a week, a service that I still use often.

I’ve also had a chance to use my zoom lens a little more! Lots of boats going by, mostly freight boats still… but I started catching the Sacre Bleu sailing by in the last few days! I hear there will be some Starline trips coming out of Mackinaw City sometime soon. It has also recently been quite rainy in Michigan, which has left us with a few mights and mornings of foggy weather. Am I the only one who enjoys the fog?

And more nature from my yard! I have two small gardens in the back yard with spring flowers that are starting to bloom, and the birds are out and about daily, looking for food. I occasionally see a seagull fly over the lake, and am still searching for an owl or an eagle to fly by, with no luck yet.
