Heather Chloe May
Hi – let me give you a quick tour of my life!
I grew up on Mackinac Island as a child and lived here every summer of my life. During the summer, my family would run our store, May’s Candy Shops, and I was able to start helping out when I was 10, passing out samples to customers. In the winters we would move to Petoskey, MI, where I graduated from high school.
After attending CMU for music education and working as a musician and educator downstate after college, I began living full time on Mackinac Island in 2010, starting my current job as music teacher at Mackinac Island Public Schools. As for candy making, I worked my way up through jobs at the fudge shop, working as a salesclerk, then candy making assistant, then candy maker, then manager, and now I own and run the shop with my brother, Lee. As of now, I teach music and art in the winter months, and make fudge during the summer season.
